9/16 Invisible Children

Invisible Children is a movement seeking to end the conflict in North East Africa and to bring the child soldiers home. For 25 years, the LRA has been terrorizing the people in Northern Uganda, Congo, Central African Republic, and parts of Southern Sudan. Invisible Children uses media and peaceful tactics to rehabilitate the people affected by the war and bring Joseph Kony, the leader of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), to justice.

9/27 Daryl Peveto

Daryl Peveto is an editorial and social documentary photographer deeply interested in exploring the concept of home and issues related to health & the environment, particularly the threads that weave these issues together. He graduated summa cum laude from the Visual Journalism Program at Brooks Institute in 2008. In 2010 he was selected as the first new member of the photo cooperative LUCEO since its inception in 2007. A selection of his clients include TIME, Newsweek, Der Spiegel, AARP, US News & World Report, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, Tablet, The New York Review of Books, NBC Nightly News and Sierra Nevada Brewing Company.

10/10 Joe McNally

Joe McNally is an internationally acclaimed photographer whose career has spanned 30 years and 50 countries. He has shot covers for TIME, Newsweek, Fortune, The New York Times Sunday magazine and many others, as well as being an ongoing contributor for Sports Illustrated, National Geographic, and a staff photographer at LIFE. Joe was listed by American Photo as one of the 100 Most Important People in Photography. He has also been honored by Kodak-PDN Legends Online and is a Nikon Legend Behind the Lens, among many other awards. His “Faces of Ground Zero” raised more than $2 million for the relief effort and is considered to be one of the most important artistic endeavors to come out of the 911 tragedy.

spring is here...the grounds are beautiful, the flowers blooming and our docents are planning another delicious luncheon!  so...once again, artists are invited to spend the day at Camulos to capture their impressions of the rancho on canvas, paper and film.
our day will include:
morning coffee and treats, lunch and beverages
docents in costume available for tours and posing
views of the historic winery, barn, chapel, schoolhouse, big adobe, fountain, grape arbor...  surrounded by beautiful landscape features that include orange orchards, extensive lawns and gardens, and views of the Santa Clara Mountains
reservations are a must!

April 27th Workshop - On Lighting - by Dean Zatkowsky

Dean Zatkowsky, the President of the Ojai Camera Club, will be presenting a lecture on Lighting. The workshop will be presented in three sections:

  1. Understanding fundamental concepts of photographic light, including direction, quality, size, distance, contrast ratio, and a glossary of useful terms.
  2. Learning to see and analyze light by reverse engineering photos
  3. Taking control of the light through shooting angles, reflectors, or electronic flash.

"I try to make all of this accessible for both advanced amateurs and rank beginners, because even those of us who just want better pictures of our cats won't get them until we know how to see and use the light."

This workshop is part of our regular offering of workshops held on the 4th Wednesday of every month.
